Colm Molloy has been asserting himself as a unique voice within musical theatre.
His works for musical theatre include A THRESHOLD, co-commissioned by the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation and The BRIT School; LET ME DRESS YOU, commissioned by ALP Musicals for NEWSFEED; WORLD IN PROGRESS, The Other Palace, London; Edinburgh Festival Fringe; FORBIDDEN FRUIT, Theatre Utopia; IT’S WHO YOU KNOW, Shoestring Theatre, Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation. Colm collaborated as a composer-lyricist on the Theatre Royal Stratford East Musical Theatre Workshop with playwright Joyce Lee on REVOLUTION FOR THE SOCIALLY UNINFORMED.
He is currently being commissioned by The Sunday Boys in collaboration with George House Trust to write a choral work exploring the theme of HIV and the future, which will premiere at The Lowry in April 2023.
Colm works regularly as a pianist and musical director. He maintains a rewarding position as musical director and accompanist with Liberty Choir, a charity that brings therapeutic provision to prisoners and offenders through singing. His libretti/playwriting credits include TOURISTS and THE GAL-BOY, THE CORINTHIAN, AND THE DOLLYMOP, London Transport Museum; THE PLAINS OF DELIGHT, Theatre Utopia; The Bread and Roses, Clapham Fringe Festival.
Colm is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (Composition and Piano) and completed his Masters in Dramaturgy at Birkbeck College, University of London.
He is also a member of the renowned Book, Music & Lyrics Workshop in London, as part of their Composer/Lyricist Advanced Group, where he is working with Richard Overall on an adaptation of an animated film.
